India will look to close out the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe when the two teams meet again in Harare on Saturday, having taken control of proceedings with a commanding performance in the opening fixture.

The tourists made light work of the target set in the series opener, comfortably chasing down Zimbabwe’s total of 125 for 7 with as many as seven wickets and 40 balls remaining. It was a result that left little doubt about which side had the upper hand throughout.

Much of the spotlight fell on teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who bounced back strongly from a disappointing tour of England by smashing a record-breaking half-century off just 18 balls. The innings also handed new captain Shreyas Iyer his first win in charge of India’s T20I side.

On the bowling front, Mayank Yadav marked his return from a lengthy injury layoff in style, finishing with impressive figures of 2 for 18, while Prince Yadav chipped in with two wickets of his own to round off a well-rounded bowling display.

With momentum firmly on their side, India will now look to build on that opening statement and push for an unassailable series lead heading into Saturday’s second T20I in Harare.
