The African Democratic Congress, ADC, governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Bilyaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, has said the state cannot prosper when its people are unsafe.

Shinkafi said insecurity had disrupted communities, displaced families and kept farmers away from their farms, describing security as the foundation of his proposed administration.

He stated this in a statement issued on Thursday in Gusau while formally introducing himself as the ADC governorship candidate to stakeholders, members and supporters of the party in the state.

“My commitment is clear: security will be the foundation of our government,” he said.

Shinkafi also identified poverty, inadequate education, poor healthcare and limited economic opportunities as major challenges facing the state.

He said his administration would prioritise quality education, accessible healthcare, security and support for farmers, as well as jobs, skills and opportunities for young people.

The ADC candidate said public resources must serve the people and development must reach all parts of Zamfara.

Shinkafi also called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to make the 2027 election campaign peaceful and issue-based.

“Let us debate ideas, programmes and records; not personalities. Let us compete vigorously, but respect one another. Zamfara is bigger than any political party or candidate,” he said.
