Yobe State University non-teaching staff threaten strike over unpaid salary adjustment
According to him, the delay in fulfilling the salary agreement has heightened concerns among affected workers, who are demanding that the university management address the matter without further postponement.
Liman explained that the warning strike threat reflects the joint position of SSANU and NASU, stressing that both unions are prepared to take industrial action if their demands remain unresolved.
He called on the university management and other relevant authorities to intervene promptly and ensure that the outstanding salary adjustment is implemented in line with the agreement reached.
The union leader also warned that failure to resolve the dispute could affect the delivery of administrative and technical services across the institution, potentially disrupting its day-to-day operations.
The disagreement comes against the backdrop of ongoing efforts to implement salary agreements reached in 2026 between university staff unions and the Federal Government, including provisions concerning non-teaching employees.
However, the university management had not issued a public response to the unions’ warning as of the time this report was filed.
