Xbox Officially Unveils Brand-New Console

Whether we’re ready or not, it seems like the latest console generation is getting ready to wind down in the next few years. Many would argue that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles arrived with something of a shrug, and the last few years have given us little to really justify forking out for hardware that’s only getting more expensive. And with popular series like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and The Last of Us likely not returning until the next generation of hardware? Well, it’s been an odd time all round.

While Xbox is expected to release its proper next-gen hardware, codename Project Helix, in 2028, the company has unveiled a brand-new one-of-a-kind console to keep us busy in the meantime. It’s safe to say we’ve definitely never seen a console quite like this.

Over on social media, Xbox gave us a look at the brand-new XBOX Series X-BITE, a fully functioning Xbox Series X console that’s been swallowed by an alligator. No, we’re not joking.

In what is clearly a Florida-themed tribute to the upcoming GTA 6, the XBOX Series X-BITE is a completely unique bit of kit. There’s only one in the entire world, presumably because Xbox knows there aren’t that many people who want to shove an HDMI cable up a gator’s backside. Still, there are some cool details on this hardware, including the classic Xbox X on the gator’s pupils. A very nice touch.

“Measuring more than five feet from snout to tail, the console sits inside a meticulously crafted alligator, visible through an illuminated XBOX Nexus in its body,” reads an official blog post. “A custom XBOX Wireless Controller with bite marks rests between its jaws, complete with XBOX-green irises and Nexus-inspired pupils, making the XBOX Series X-BITE ready to play some of the biggest games of the year. The result is part-XBOX Series X, part-creature fabrication.”

Creature animatronics specialists John Nolan Studio is the one who brought the XBOX Series X-BITE to life through 3D modeling, sculpting and fabrication. The studio has worked on shows and movies like The Witcher, Jurassic World Dominion, and HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series.

“Every detail was considered, from the texture and finish of the alligator to the custom XBOX Wireless Controller and illuminated console within,” the post continues. “At the center of it all is a functioning XBOX Series X.”

Assuming you have the room underneath your TV to stick a dirty great alligator, you could be in with a chance to win the only Series X-BITE in existence. Here’s what you have to do:
