WWE Sunday Night's Main Event results: New champion, huge return

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. OK, maybe it’s not Christmas, but it’s still pretty cool. Labor Day means the start of the NFL season, but first we have Sunday Night’s Main Event! Tonight’s card looks very good on paper as it has two of the best matches the promotion can offer, as long as some other fun stuff.

It’s time for Sunday Night’s Main Event!

We are opening with Lil Yachty. Not what I thought I’d be writing tonight, but he’s been great every time he’s out there. He deserves something like this. Well, maybe not because Baron Corbin isn’t a guy I’d want to wrestle, But I imagine Yachty has learned a thing or two during his training. I wish him well.

Corbin was nice enough to give him a chance to back out. He said pack it up and take a hike. Yachty hits him with the mic. And we’re off. He gets a two count, then runs away, but Corbin catches him and starts to go to work. Corbin gets his licks in, but Lachty takes over. He hits him with the stick. He gets some great shots in before Corbin can retake control. Corbin pounds away, beats him up, but can’t pin Yachty. And that means … It’s time for Corbin for defend his title against Trick right now.

Yachty survives 5 minutes with Corbin.

It’s time for a U.S. Championship match. Yachty is hurt, but Trick Williams is going to get a chance to get his title back. Yachty did very well. He went through a table after the match. He put up a good fight. But now his friend is whooping that Baron. Trick is in control and he gets a two count, but Corbin hung on. Corbin clotheslines Trick on the top rope, then throws him into the table. Corbin is getting the rest he needs. Corbin is whooping Trick now.

I’ve enjoyed Corbin since he came back. He’s a very punchable guy. But I’m pulling for Trick here. Unless he’s going to challenge for the top tile. He needs to keep going up. Corbin, I would like to see him climb too. These two are good, but I’m sick of seeing Trick lose. However, he’s now getting beaten up for 10 minutes. Turn it around Trick!

Corbin continues to pound away. I haven’t seen a beating this bad since I beat my friend Tom Flud in WrestleFest. What a rush! Corbin hits Deep 6, and I gotta say he does have some unique offense. I do enjoy Corbin a lot more than most. I hope he goes on a long win streak. After this match. Now Corbin is taking it to him on the outside. Trick triekd to grab the belt, but Yachty blocked him. Williams hits a big kick, and only gets two. Corbin hits a belt shot on Trick, but only gets a two count. Trick hits a Trick shot and gets his belt back.

I’m glad it played out that way. I wanted to see Trick get the title back and he did. He wasn’t done with his reign. And Corbin will be fine without being a champion. Maybe he can be down on his luck again.

I didn’t love it. It was fine, the guys worked hard but Corbin wrestled first for five minutes and he was the bad guy. That was strange. Decent enough, but not great. Grade: 83 out of 100.

I didn’t love the energy I felt coming out of the Vision when the arrived tonight. I hope Bronn Breakker breaks away from them soon, and it could be tonight. Oba Femi is a star. Brock made sure that star broke out the past few months. I hope this match is great. I just hope neither man looks bad coming out of it. Especially not Breakker, who needs to be the biggest star in the sport. He has everything to be the top guy. He could be a breakout star.

Paul Heyman came out and said this match will determine the future of WWE. And then he calls out Bron Breakker. Breakker comes out, gives Heyman a fist bump, and now out comes his foe, Oba Femi. I hope this match ends much like the Cody Rhodes SNME match for Oba. No need for either of these men to lose!

The big boys are ready to go. Oba is taller. Bron probably faster, but both are great athletes. And after an early tieup, Oba got the best of Bron. Brakker hits the outside and Femi goes out after him and drops him face first on the apron. Femi is in control. Oba is really taking it to Bron. Breakker does fight back and hits his flying clothesline through the announce table. Now it’s Breakker’s turn, who hits a massive clothesline and is in control. He’s choking Oba.

After a fast start by Oba, it’s been all Breakker. He’s laughing and talking a lot of smack as he continues to pound away on Oba. But after he yelled “Future of what?” Oba battles back. Bron locks in the sleeper, but Oba runs him into the top turnbuckle. This has been a good, battle and now the two men are throwing live rounds, lefts and rights until Oba hits an uppercut. Bron hits a knee and a German suplex, Oba battles back with three straight clotheslines and a snakeyes into a big boot. He then hits three straight uppercuts and a clothesline.

Femi hits a chokeslam and gets a two count. Breakker rakes the eyes of Femi, then goes for his spear outside but Femi hits a shouler block. Femi catches Austin THeory, who ran out with a huge suples through the table. Bron hits a spear on the outside. A spear on the inside. And he gets a two count, Femi kicks out. And here comes Logan Paul, who is cut off by the ref. The ref thouws him out, but Maxxine gives Breakker brass knuckles but Femi catches him and throws Breakker across the ring. Until Bronson Reed shows up and hits Femi with a chair. He wears him out with the chair. Then he hits a Tsunami. He pulls up Oba Femi and Breakker spears him again. Then another Tsunami. Make it three Tsunami. Oba is lifted up for another spear. And another Tsunami. That’s four of each, I believe. Officials are out to break it out. That’s not glorious. Guess I was wrong about the Vision.

They are who we thought they were. They’re both great and they beat the heck out of each other. I would give it a 90 grade.

This should be a good one. These gals have a great rivalry on Smackdown. Looking forward to it. We start with B-Fab and Paxley. And the newcomer to Smackdown takes control early. Michin tags in but she fares no better. ANd Paxley kicks B-Fab out and continues taking it to her opponents until Jade Cargill comes over and hits Paxley with a huge knee. Michin gets a two count before tagging in B-Fab. Jade’s team is in control.

Alexa Bliss tags in and suffers the same fate. But she tags in Charlotte Flair and she comes in with a high cross body. She then chops the heck out of Michin. Then hits a German suplex. And a cartwheel clothesline. Michin goes for a Frankensteiner, but she lands on the turnbuckle. Charlotte then hits the Trish leg scissors. Jade tags in behind Charlotte’s back and hits a super kick. She then hits a spinning torturerack into a powerbomb, but Paxley breaks it up. Flair rolls up Cargill when she went for her finisher. Flair hits a fallaway slam throwing Michin into Cargill. Flair then hits a perfect moonsault on both, but Cargill kicks out. Flair hits natural selection. It’s left to Flair and Cargill in the ring. Flair goes for a FIgure 4, B-Fab goes to break it up. They go for Double Figure 4s, but Paxley and Flair are kicked off into each other. Cargill hits her finisher on Flair and it’s over.

That was a disappointed for the good girls, who looked like they had it. Will this cause disention among Charlotte and Tatum? I hope not, they seem nice. But Jade Cargill and her crew looked great again. They’ve been quite impressive on smackdown.

This match was fun. I thought it was very good. All three worked very hard on both sides and it sets up a lot of fun things down the line. Grade: 88 out of 100.

It’s a WrestleMania rematch up next. And Cody Rhodes is out first in Atlanta. And Randy Orton tried to sneak attack Cody, but Rhodes was there. Randy slithers out of the ring and fight starts at ringside. Cody is stalking Randy and pounding away. He hits Orton twice in the head with a trash can. ECW! ECW! CTE! No need to do that, guys, but the fight is on. And now Orton uses the trash can twice. They fight through the arena and now they’re in the ring. And the bell rings.

Cody takes control and slaps on the figure four. Like 15 seconds after the bell rang, Cody locked this in. Randy is screaming, but he gets to the rope to break it. “Get him off me” Randy yelled. Randy hits a DDT and now he’s in control. Rhodes should have put him away when he had a chance.

Orton has taking it slow, but he’s pounding away on Cody. Cody is in trouble, but he’s fighting back. He fights out of a back suplex, punches Orton and throws Randy over the top rope with a clothesline. Orton suckered Cody in and he takes over again. Hits a big uppercut.

Orton goes up to Cody’s wife and gets slapped. Good for her! Brandi is not to be messed with. Randy eats a Cody springboard kick, then a huge elbow. Cody goes for CrossRhodes but Orton fights out. Orton hits a pair of big clotheslines and then the big powerslam. The crowd is amped as Randy calls for his RKO. But Cody turns it into a CrossRhodes, but only gets a two count. I was wondering when the ref would get hit. He just did and Randy hit an RKO. It has to happen. If not, it’s not a real match. Or at least main event. There are other ways to cheat!

Orton looks like he’s setting up for a punt. He missed but gets CrossRhodes. Again. No referee. Cody gets up and seems to realize there’s no ref. Orton is outside the ring. Cody hits a suicide dive. And they hit the ref again. Unreal. The fight continues on the outside. Cody hits Randy with the stairs. Rhodes continues to go to work on Orton. Randy is in the middle of the ring, and he eats a Cody Cutters. ORton is bleeding. Cody hits two CrossRhodes. Orton is down. Cody is stalking him. It’s very bloody. Orton is in a bad way. Cody is setting Randy up for a punt. But Rhodes back off when Randy begged for forgiveness. Cody pushes him back down. He then yells “It’s over.” Another ref comes out. Randy hits a low blow on Rhodes and also hits the ref. So there’s no ref again. Orton hits an RKO. The original ref is back and Randy gets the three count.

Great match. Bloody match. And Randy won. I didn’t like all the refs getting knocked out, but still a great match. Grade: 90 out 100.
