The win cuts short Punk’s latest title reign, which began in July at the expense of Zayn over on “Raw.” Last week, Zayn promised Gargano a shot at the gold if he regained it.

Tonight, Tatum Paxley competes in her biggest match on the main roster since her recent debut.

Standing in her way are former world champion Jade Cargill and current Women’s U.S.

Champion Jacy Jayne.Cody Rhodes was absent from last week’s “SmackDown” following his Sunday Night’s Main Event loss to Randy Orton, who firmly set his sights on the world title prior to the Zayn-Punk rematch.
