‘Would you guess?’ – LA Dodgers fan gives Dave Roberts reason for 0-3 NLCS comeback prediction

· · 2 min read

The Los Angeles Dodgers are all but done for the season after their Game 3 loss against the Milwaukee Brewers, but one fan still has hope.

The Dodgers fell to a 6-2 loss against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, effectively sealing their fate for the season. They have not lost in the MLB Playoffs since 2023, but it seems like defeat is all but guaranteed this time against the Brewers.

The Dodgers’ pitching has failed to limit the Brewers in this series, while the bats have largely fallen silent. Shohei Ohtani’s woeful form has continued, and they have been unable to overcome it. One fan still believes they can pull off the improbable, though, and it has something to do with Dave Roberts.

Dodgers fan uses 2004 Boston Red Sox example, cites Dave Roberts’ presence on both teams

In 2004, the Boston Red Sox did what no team had ever managed before, coming back from a 3-0 deficit against the New York Yankees in the ALCS. Dave Roberts was incredibly crucial to this, the now-Dodgers manager had a crucial stolen base and a run in the ninth inning of Game 4 which turned everything around and led to the Red Sox winning it all.

Roberts is no stranger to winning World Series at this point. He has three of them with the Dodgers. One fan on Reddit used the Red Sox example to explain why everything is still possible for LA.

“The Dodgers will come back from 0-3 down against the Brewers and play in the 2026 World Series,” the fan wrote. “You heard it here first.

“The last thing missing to make this Dodger team even more legendary is coming back from a 0-3 deficit, which has only been done once in MLB history (the 2004 Boston Red Sox against the NY Yankees in the ALCS, with the Red Sox going on to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series).

“And would you guess who else played in that series? That’s right.” The fan shared a picture of Roberts from his Red Sox days as part of the post.

It admittedly looks unlikely that something like this could happen. The Brewers are arguably the MLB’s most in-form team, and they’ve stifled the Dodgers at every turn so far during the series. It would take a miracle, but it cannot be denied that we have seen Roberts be part of one of those before!
