World Cup: ‘Thank God Spain won’ – Oliseh slams Argentina players over bad behaviour

Former Nigeria head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has slammed Argentina players over ‘bad advertisement’ following their 1-0 World Cup final defeat to Spain over the weekend.

Oliseh was not pleased with some of the Argentina players who were involved in a fight with the Spanish players after the final whistle of the encounter in New Jersey.

Recall that there were ugly scenes at the end of the World Cup final as players and coaches from both teams clashed.

Footage of Argentina players Leandro Paredes and Nahuel Molina hitting Spain players Eric García and Rodri, while Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala was also seen to strike Spain attacking midfielder Dani Olmo.

Speaking on the development on the Sunday Oliseh Global Football Insights show, Oliseh insisted that Argentina players displayed negative football.

“Thank God that Spain won the World Cup on Sunday,” the former Juventus midfielder said.

“I’m telling you for the interest of football, it was important because the team came out playing positive football, winning the World Cup because the negative football that the Argentine puts out, it is a bad advertisement for football.

“When I saw Argentina players fighting after the game when the game was over, you don’t fight your opponent after the World Cup final. I just think it is great that Spain won,” he said.
