World Cup 2026: Six coaches lose jobs after elimination [Full list]

Germany coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has become the sixth and latest manager to lose his job following the nation’s Round of 32 exit at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Recall that Germany failed to progress to the Round of 16 after losing against Paraguay on Monday.

However, the German Football Association has now officially announced that Nagelsmann has resigned as head coach of the German national team.

Nagelsmann now joined Sebastián Beccacece (Ecuador), Ronald Koeman (Netherlands), Miroslav Koubek (Czechia), Steve Clarke (Scotland), and Hong Myung-bo(South Korea) in losing their jobs after their teams’ exit at the World Cup.

Reacting, Nagelsmann said, “I am deeply sorry that I could not deliver more memorable World Cup moments and that I fell short of your expectations.”

Nagelsmann had expressed his desire to step down following Germany’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico during a confidential meeting with senior DFB officials.

Nagelsmann took charge of Germany in September 2023. The 38-year-old  guided the nation to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, where they were beaten by eventual winners Spain.
