Woltemade heads to Juventus on loan

Newcastle United have loaned forward Nick Woltemade out to Juventus for the duration of the 2026-27 season.

Juve are reportedly paying an initial €2.8m (£1.7m) to Newcastle for the loan deal.

Woltemade has joined the Serie A giants just a year after Newcastle paid Stuttgart £69m (€80.5m) to sign the Germany international as a replacement for Alexander Isak.

The 24-year-old made a fine start to life at St James’ Park, becoming just the third German player to score on his Premier League debut, after Jurgen Klinsmann in August 1994 and Ilkay Gundogan in September 2016.

He could not keep that form going, though, and he finished with 11 goals in 51 appearances last term.

From the turn of the year, Woltemade managed just two goals.

Juve have been in the market for another attacking option, with Luciano Spalletti having been frustrated by Randal Kolo Muani’s form.

The Bianconeri also signed midfielder Pape Matar Sarr earlier on deadline day.
