‘WNBA is insane’ say fans after ‘stupid’ decision made by the league for the playoffs

The WNBA regular season came to a close last week, and the playoffs are now firmly underway.

The postseason has already provided us with some big results, including the New York Liberty securing a win over the number one seed, the Minnesota Lynx.

Elsewhere, the Indiana Fever fell to defeat in their first game against the Las Vegas Aces.

But both of those games took place on Sunday, and fans are now questioning the WNBA’s decision to start their playoffs on NFL Sunday.

A number of people have taken to X/Twitter to share their views on the decision, including one who wrote: “WNBA is insane starting the playoffs during a NFL Sunday.”

Another suggested: “The WNBA starting their playoffs on NFL Sunday is completely wild.”

A third tweeted: “I’d like to speak to whoever scheduled the WNBA playoffs on a Sunday while I’m trying to watch NFL football…”

“Really hate how round 1 of the WNBA playoff starts on NFL Sunday. So stupid,” a fourth stated.

Another wrote: “The WNBA is starting its playoffs on an NFL Sunday and the final day of the MLB regular season. That’s certainly one marketing strategy”

And a sixth commented: “Starting the WNBA playoffs on an NFL Sunday, certainly a choice.”

The 2026 WNBA playoffs return to our screens on Tuesday evening when the Fever face the Aces and the Lynx take on the Liberty in game-two ties.

Meanwhile, this year’s WNBA Finals are scheduled to get underway on October 17. The last game, if required, will take place on October 31.
