Wisconsin basketball guard suddenly granted fifth year of eligibility

· · 1 min read

Despite the regular season rapidly approaching, the Wisconsin Badgers are still in a place where they are looking to fill out their roster ahead of Greg Gard’s 12th year at the helm. After an offseason that has so far seen seven new players join the program, news recently broke that there is an imminent return from guard Braeden Carrington.

Last season, Carrington averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists on a 40.8% field goal rate for a team that went 24-10 before crashing out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. While Carrington didn’t start a game for the Badgers last season. That said, he averaged 18.1 minutes per game, which still allowed him to have a meaningful impact on each game. Assuming Carrington is welcomed back to the Badgers, he would join one of the nation’s most veteran corps, as the Badgers have six seniors already on staff and seven upperclassmen in total.
