Will Levis auditions for New York Jets, Titans' Week 1 opponent

Will Levis’ search for a new job continued on Sept. 3 in New York.

Levis worked out for the New York Jets, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

Levis was waived by the Titans on Aug. 30 and cleared waivers, allowing him to sign with any team either on the active roster or the practice squad.

The Jets also worked out former Panthers QB Jack Plummer.

New York currently has two quarterbacks (Geno Smith and rookie Cade Klubnik) on the 53-man roster and one quarterback on the practice squad (Bailey Zappe).

The Jets open the season against the Titans on Sept. 13 in Nashville.

Levis, 27, was the Titans’ second round pick in 2023 after the team traded up to No. 33 overall. Levis made 21 starts across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, tossing 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while completing 61% of his passes. The team was 5-16 in Levis’ starts.

The Kentucky alum missed the 2025 season after shoulder surgery, then lost out on the No. 2 quarterback job to Mitchell Trubisky during the preseason.

“Credit to Will,” Titans GM Mike Borgonzi said two days after Levis was waived. “Will did a tremendous job throughout OTAs and camp. He was always a professional. We had a great conversation when he left and I’ll be rooting for him.”

Meanwhile, the Titans worked out six defensive backs on Sept. 3.
