Wilde and Yee to renew rivalry in Jersey Supertri final

Olympic silver medallist Hayden Wilde will face British Olympic champion Alex Yee in the Supertri Pro Series Final in Jersey.

Wilde is the latest top name to be added to the field, which will also see reigning world champion Matt Hauser take part.

Yee dramatically sprinted past Wilde in the closing stages at Paris 2024 to win his first Olympic gold medal, having won silver in the previous Games in Tokyo.

The culmination of the global triathlon event on 6 September will see some of the world’s best triathletes compete on a course around the island with a $800,000 (£595,000) prize fund at stake.

It will be the sixth time that the global triathlon event has held races in Jersey with some of the world’s best competing on a course around the St Helier Waterfront.

Hungary’s Csongor Lehmann and Luxembourg’s Jeanne Lehair won the men’s and women’s races at last year’s event.

Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand headlines the women’s race where she will face Great Britain’s triple-Olympic medallist Georgia Taylor-Brown, Lehair and former European champion Jolien Vermeylen.

“To have athletes of the calibre of Alex, Hayden and Matt going head-to-head at the Waterfront is going to make for an incredible spectacle,” Supertri co-founder and chief executive Michael D’hulst said.

“The stakes have never been higher, and the field reflects that. We know how much energy the Jersey crowd brings to Supertri and we can’t wait to see the Marina come alive again in September.”
