Wife of fan ejected from Lakers-Kings game breaks silence on Luka Doncic confrontation

One Sacramento Kings fan was ejected from the game against the LA Lakers after throwing a ball at a referee, after which he was confronted by Luka Doncic.

Doncic asked the fan why he would throw the ball so aggressively at the referee, and the official instantly had him removed from the game.

The fan tried to plead his innocence, as he suggested that he had no intention of trying to hurt or harm the referee with his actions.

Taking to Instagram, Kellie DeMarco, the wife of the fan who was ejected from the Sacramento Kings vs. LA Lakers game, addressed the incident.

Rather than getting defensive, DeMarco took it in stride, joking that her husband’s past as a basketball player led to the hard pass, and he regrets how it came across.

She wrote: “Yes, this is my sweet husband, and yes, he’s the guy who got ejected from an NBA game! I spent nearly 20 years in TV news, and he’s getting more airtime than me! He played basketball for years, and apparently the chest pass muscle memory never left him.

“He meant no harm, he feels terrible that it came across the wrong way, and he has nothing but respect for the officials. Thank you for all the kind messages. We love the Kings and this community. And no, he is not Steve Kerr, I’ve read the comments.”

When DeMarco’s husband made such an aggressive pass to the referee, Luka Doncic, who has a long history of issues with the referees himself, asked the fan why he did that.

The incident quickly went viral, with many fans questioning why a fairly docile incident led to a fan ejection, given the precedent set for what it takes for a fan to be ejected.

Hopefully, the Kings can reach out to the couple and offer them tickets for another game, given that the incident was nothing more than a misunderstanding.
