Who will lead the Seahawks in sacks in 2026?

· · 1 min read

The Seattle Seahawks tied for seventh in the NFL in sacks last season with 47 quarterback takedowns. There was a three-way tie for their regular season sack leader. Leonard Williams, Uchenna Nwosu, and Byron Murphy II all registered 7.0 sacks apiece.

Who will lead the Seahawks in sacks this coming season? It’s a loaded question. The Seahawks underwent some changes at the pass-rushing positions this offseason. Boye Mafe left via free agency and was replaced by veteran rusher Dante Fowler.

The Seahawks rotate defensive ends quite frequently. That makes it difficult for someone like Nwosu, Derick Hall, Fowler, or DeMarcus Lawrence to lead the defense in sacks. Mike Macdonald prefers them to stay fresh while rushing the quarterback. Speaking of Lawrence, he was one sack away (6.0) from making it a four-way tie for the team lead in 2025.

That rotational approach might favor Williams or Murphy to lead the Seahawks in sacks. Leonard has made consecutive Pro Bowls and also led the Seahawks in sacks during the 2024 campaign. Everyone expects Murphy to take another massive step forward as a third-year pro after enjoying a breakout sophomore campaign.

The Seahawks rush the passer in bunches and should have another top-10 defensive unit in 2026. Murphy or Williams are most likely to lead the Seahawks in sacks. Murphy is the trendy pick as he continues establishing himself as one of the most dominant three-techs in football.
