Simone Biles is power and strength personified when she’s in competition, racking up gold medals in gymnastics. So whatever threatened to take her life in a recent health scare must’ve been serious.

Biles shared part of her experience in a recent Instagram story, saying she’s been in bed resting this week after “almost dying.” She kept the details to a minimum, but said she would explain what happened “sooner or later.” However, Biles did confirm it was health-related in response to a question on X.

With her husband Jonathan Owens away in Indianapolis for Colts OTAs, Biles called it “one of, if not the scariest experience of my life.”

The 29-year-old Biles is leaving her options open with the Olympics returning to the U.S. “You know, you never say never. The next Olympics is on home turf. So you just never know,” she told TODAY. “I’m just going to relax and see where life takes me.”
