Weston Port, three-star LB, commits to Michigan football

Michigan football is still weeks away from playing games, but the Wolverines – and new coach Kyle Whittingham – landed a victory in the recruiting battles on Monday, Jun 29 as three-star linebacker Weston Port committed to U-M in the class of 2027.

Port, from San Juan Capistrano, California, was previously committed to UCLA, but opted to reopen his recruitment after the Bruins hired Bob Chesney as coach. Port announced his commitment to the Wolverines via social media.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker is ranked by 247 Sports in its composite rankings as the No. 54 player in California, the No. 69 linebacker nationals and No. 684 overall.

He’ll join the Wolverines following the completion of his two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Port is the 19th commitment for the Wolverines in their class of 2027, which ranked No. 22 nationally entering Monday, and sixth in the 18-team Big Ten. Port is also the third linebacker in the class, and the second in a week after four-star LB Frederrick Ford committed on Friday.
