“We know we have to do something” – Hansi Flick talks Barcelona’s search for a striker

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick spoke to the press after the squad’s final session of their training camp in England, and much of the conversation was about the club’s search for a new striker.

The Catalans are still dreaming of Julián Álvarez but have also been linked with a number of other names, and Ferran Torres’ possible exit to PSG also increases the urgency to sign a number nine.

Flick made it clear he does want a striker to be signed but was also very calm in his answer, saying he has “complete confidence” in sporting director Deco to get a deal over the line.

“It depends on the team. We have to wait. I have complete confidence in Deco and we know we have to do something. It also depends on [what happens with] Ferran. We’ll see what we do.”

Barça currently have Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, Ferran and new signings Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi as forward options along with academy prospects Ebrima Tunkara and Hamza Abdelkarim, but Flick clearly wants a true striker profile to replace Robert Lewandowski.

There is still a month to go in the transfer window and Barça are still three weeks away from their official debut against Elche in La Liga, so time isn’t exactly running out (yet) and a lot could still happen.
