WATCH: Kendre Miller scores the Saints' first touchdown of 2026
You can’t undersell how badly the New Orleans Saints needed this touchdown. After a couple of Tyler Shough turnovers led to several Detroit Lions touchdowns, extending their lead to 21-0 midway through the third quarter, Kendre Miller got the black and gold on the scoreboard for the first time in 2026.
Shough led the offense deep into Detroit territory — including an impressive 47-yard pass to wide receiver Chris Olave that flipped the field — before Miller took the handoff on first-and-goal from the 7-yard line. He lost a yard. But the Saints trusted him enough to give the fourth-year running back another crack at it, and he rewarded them with an 8-yard touchdown run. He threw a stiff arm to cut through the teeth of the Lions defense and into the end zone. See for yourself:

It’s exactly the type of moment Miller has been looking for after injuries disrupted his career. He suffered a season-ending ACL tear last year and has missed 30 of his first 51 games due to various injuries. Getting this opportunity in such a high-leverage moment goes to show how much trust he’s earned from the coaching staff. Let’s hope it’s something he can build off of moving forwards.
