Watch Bradley Barcola's Liverpool hat trick in UEFA Champions League vs LASK
Signed from Paris Saint-Germain over the summer for a reported fee worth around $150 million, Liverpool’s Bradley Barcola netted a hat trick in his team’s 6-3 UEFA Champions League romp on Wednesday, Oct. 14 in Austria.
Minutes after defender Ronald Araujo scored his first goal for Liverpool to put the Reds ahead 1-0 in the 22nd minute on the road against LASK, Barcola netted his own debut goal for the club in the 24th minute. He scored again in the 37th minute and completed his hat trick with a strike in the 66th minute.
Barcola, 24, represented France at this summer’s World Cup after winning three Ligue 1 titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies with PSG.
Liverpool has won just two of its first six Premier League games – with three draws and a loss – and Barcola has faced criticism over the past two months for his performances after coming to England with such a hefty price tag.
“I don’t think he’s in a bad moment – the problem with wingers or strikers is if they don’t score a goal, ‘they haven’t played well’,” Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola recently told reporters.
