Watch: Akbar Abdullaev steals the show with one-punch knockout at Contender Series Week 6

Akbar Abdullaev lived up to all prior expectations with a blistering first-round knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series.

The Kyrgyzstani improved to a perfect 14-0 with a 19-second finish on Tuesday. Not only did he steal the show, but he also delivered one of the best knockouts ever seen on the show. Abdullaev will be a welcome addition to the UFC lightweight division and could fight again this year, having not broken a sweat.

Much was made of Ednilson Santos ahead of the fight. The Brazilian took the opportunity on short notice and is said to have an eerily similar style to his training partner Alex Pereira. A lover of the calf kick and power punches, Santos threatened to be a true test for Akbar Abdullaev. Unfortunately for the South American, Abdullaev was on top of his game.

It took one big overhand right, sending Santos falling face-first into the canvas. A shocked Dana White sat cageside, likely already getting the contract warm for the UFC’s newest prospect.
