Warriors GM addresses viral NBA Draft video of animated owner chat

A video went viral during Tuesday night’s 2026 NBA Draft of Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy and owner Jacob Lacob having what looked to be a spirited debate ahead of the team’s No. 11 selection.

The Warriors ultimately added Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg, but was there tension over who the team wanted to take between the general manager and owner?

According to Dunleavy, the conversation simply revolved around trade potential ahead of the Lendeborg pick. He joked about it being a debate about the best San Francisco golf course, too.

“At that point, there’s probably some talks about trades and things like that,” Dunleavy told reporters, per ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “But, ultimately, we were all in agreement to land on taking Yaxel.”

All seems to be fine in Golden State over the Lendeborg pick, at least to Dunleavy. The context at least helps make this conversation look a bit more ordinary for the natural debate that springs forth in draft rooms.
