War: Trump, Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian sign peace deal

President Donald Trump of the United States has signed the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Iran at the Palace of Versailles, asserting that the agreement has prevented a potential ‘worldwide depression’.

The specifics of the 14-point accord have been disclosed, with senior US officials declaring it a ‘major win’ despite considerable concessions made to Tehran.

In remarkable comments made on Wednesday, Trump indicated that Iran possesses fundamental rights to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

He added that he would not compel Tehran to relinquish its ballistic missile programme, and that the US would “have to return” billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets.

Iran president, Masoud Pezeshkian, also signed the agreement on Wednesday from Tehran.

The US vice-president, JD Vance, is anticipated to sign the accord during a more formal ceremony in Geneva on Friday.

Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, remarked, “The agreement is a testament to US failure. People will observe it and make their judgments.”

In defense of the agreement, Trump asserted that no US president had been as stringent with Iran as he has been, stating, “there is nothing as intelligent as the market – and the market appreciates it.”

Trump contended that “the alternative would be a worldwide depression,” arguing that had he not reached an agreement, “the strait would never have been opened. They are not fond of having billion-dollar ships navigating the strait while their rockets are in the air and mines are scattered everywhere.”

Senior officials from the administration indicated that the agreement would assist in preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, highlighting a commitment to discuss the down-blending of its 440kg stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which could potentially be further enriched for nuclear weapon use.

Trump has expressed his willingness for the stockpile to be diluted within Iran under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
