Walsall defender Browne signs new two-year deal

Walsall defender Rico Browne has signed a new two-year contract with the League Two club.

The 22-year-old joined the Saddlers in September 2024 after a trial spell and made his league debut for the club last season, going on to make 21 appearances.

He scored his first senior goal for Walsall in the club’s 4-2 win at Newport County in November.

Browne, whose deal has the option for an additional year should the club decide to trigger it, is the second member of the retained squad to sign a new contract after the arrival of new head coach Lee Grant.

Veteran forward Albert Adomahagreed a new 12-month contract at the start of the month, while striker Andy Dallas and midfielder Lewis Simper have joined on permanent deals as new recruits.

“After speaking with the gaffer and hearing his vision for the team, it was an easy decision for me,” Browne told the club website.

“The direction the club is heading in is really exciting and I can’t wait to be a part of what’s to come.

“I was pleased to get plenty of games under my belt last season, but for me that was only the beginning.”
