WAFU B Women’s Champions League: Ampem Darkoa protest final defeat to Edo Queens

Ghanaian club Ampem Darkoa Ladies have formally protested their defeat to Edo Queens in the final of the 2026 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League.

The management of Ampem Darkoa has lodged a protest with WAFU-B and the Confederation of African Football, CAF, over the decision to proceed directly to a penalty shoot-out following their final encounter against Edo Queens.

The two sides battled to a 2-2 draw after regulation time, before Edo Queens emerged victorious with a 4-1 win on penalties to claim their second WAFU-B title.

Ampem Darkoa contend that the decision to go straight to penalties was not communicated to the club and argue that it was contrary to the CAF Women’s Champions League Regulations.

The Ghanaian side has therefore requested that the 30 minutes of extra time be played or, alternatively, that the match resume from the point at which it ended before the penalty shoot-out.

The protest now awaits consideration by the relevant WAFU-B and CAF authorities.
