WAEC extends 2026 GCE registration deadline to August 28

Unlike the school candidates’ examination, the private candidates’ examination is open to individuals who wish to sit for the examination independently.

WAEC said the 2026 Second Series examination would be conducted entirely through the Computer-Based Examination format.

The registration fee remains N37,000, while the examination is expected to be conducted between September and October 2026.

The council advised candidates to confirm the availability of examination towns before registering. It urged prospective candidates to visit the nearest WAEC office in their respective states to obtain information on the available locations.

Registration for the 2026 Second Series examination began on May 4, 2026, with the initial deadline set for July 31.

The latest extension therefore gives candidates an additional period to complete their applications and meet the requirements for the examination.
