Vikings might've made a massive mistake passing on Minnesota native Emmett Johnson

Emmett Johnson wanted the Minnesota Vikings to draft him. Instead, he watched the Vikings pass on him six times before the Kansas City Chiefs called his name in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Fast forward to today, and Johnson is part of a two-headed monster with Kenneth Walker in the Chiefs’ backfield. Johnson has carried the ball just ten times for 39 yards in two games, but he’s been a weapon for Patrick Mahomes, hauling in four passes for 64 yards.

When he gets the ball, he’s as slippery as they get.

His first NFL catch came on a checkdown from Mahomes, with Johnson making two defenders miss before he was tripped up inside the 5-yard line after a 25-gain against the Broncos.

His second catch produced three more missed tackles and 19 yards against Denver.

Against the Colts in Week 2, he caught a ball out of the backfield and burned three defenders in the open field, including former Vikings safety Cam Bynum.

Emmett Johnson understood the assignment: make everybody miss. 😂
