‘Very smart’ – Joe Rogan suggests why Enes Kanter declaring for WNBA is a good thing
The WNBA has been making headlines all across the media of late due to the trans athlete debate.
Following Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham sharing her stance on trans athletes in the competition, a widespread discourse has begun.
This has included former NBA players Enes Kanter and Royce White declaring for the WNBA draft.
Now, comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan has broached the topic on his podcast this week.
Joe Rogan calls Enes Kanter ‘very smart’ after declaring for WNBA
Speaking on episode 2539 of The Joe Rogan Experience alongside Shane Gillis and Ari Shaffir, Rogan claimed what Kanter was doing was ‘very smart’.
He went on to suggest that ‘we almost need’ someone like Kanter to do what he has done to show people how ‘ridiculous it is’.
He said: “This thing that he’s doing where he’s pretending that he’s a woman is very smart.
“In this day and age, we almost need someone that’s a public figure to do something like that to show everyone how ridiculous it is. That some ———- can just pretend that they’re a woman and knock women over on the court.”
Whether you agree with Kanter’s actions or not, this topic probably won’t be going away for a long time.
The debate has recently led to the WNBA releasing a statement after a task force meeting.
Within it, they wrote: “There are no immediate eligibility matters affecting the WNBA, and we strongly denounce the bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean or marginalize others.”
At present, the WNBA CBA states that ‘only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA,’ but it doesn’t define what a woman is, which is why Kanter decided he could declare for the draft.
