USC's Kamari Ramsey instantly makes plays for Houston Texans

The Houston Texans‘ defense already has a USC Trojan safety who is making a name for himself in the NFL: Calen Bullock. The veteran has, in just two years, quickly become a top safety in the league. The Texans followed that same blueprint and took another chance on a Trojan by drafting safety Kamari Ramsey from USC.

The Texans’ secondary is already pretty stacked and one of the best units in the league. Ramsey is still using most of his opportunities in the preseason to get his name into the conversation about being in that rotation. Ramsey, in his first game with the Texans, made sure to make his name known.

It was the second quarter of the Texans preseason game versus the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Chargers had real momentum driving down the field. In the red zone, Ramsey made a perfect read and jumped a throw made by Trey Lance. Ramsey made his big play in a pivotal part of the opposing offensive drive. That definitely will stick out to the coaches.

Ramsey has some ways to go before he reaches the status of his teammate, another USC Trojan alum, Calen Bullock, but he sure did look just like him making that play Thursday night. Ramsey will have to continue to prove himself to get playing time,but it is plays just like that that will make it hard not to have him on the field.
