USC running back Riley Wormley named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

On Saturday, the USC football team defeated Rutgers 42-35 in Piscataway, New Jersey. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 4-0 on the season and opened Big Ten play 1-0.

On Monday, the conference announced its league honors for Week 3. For his performance against Rutgers, USC running back Riley Wormley was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Wormley gave USC’s offense a spark off of the bench. He ran the ball for 52 yards and a touchdown on just three carries.

This marks the second consecutive week that a Trojan has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Last week, tight end Mark Bowman earned the honor for his performance against Louisiana.

USC is back in action this Saturday for a massive battle against Oregon at the Coliseum. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. Pacific time on NBC.
