US midterm: 'You deserve the defeat' - Kemi Badenoch slams Trump

Leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has slammed US President Donald Trump after the Republicans lost the midterm elections.

Badenoch spoke on Saturday in London, while reacting to the midterm results from America.

She said Trump deserved the defeat, stating that the loss was caused by his style of politics.

“You deserve the defeat. You cannot win elections by insulting people every day,” Badenoch said.

Recall that the Republicans lost key seats in the US House and Senate while Democrats took control of many states that Trump won in 2024.

Badenoch said Trump refused to listen to advice, noting that he pushed away independent voters.

According to her, Trump made the election about himself, not about the people.

“When you make everything about you, you will lose. Americans did not vote against the Republican Party. They voted against your arrogance,” she said.

She said the Conservative Party in the UK has learnt from Trump’s loss, explaining that a party cannot win if it only talks to its base.
