Updated 2026 NBA Eastern Conference odds after LeBron James-76ers signing

· · 2 min read

It’s finally happened. The long-awaited decision of where LeBron James will finish off his career has been made, with the Philadelphia 76ers being the next and final stop in James’ illustrious NBA career.

Coming down to the 76ers, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers, the plan for James seemed to be clear: play in the Eastern Conference.

Which should come as no surprise to anyone, considering how loaded the West is with talent on paper.

Of course, the reigning NBA champion New York Knicks are in the East, so this won’t be a walk in the park for James and his new 76ers team to win a title.

However, with the new odds to win the East released by FanDuel following the signing of LeBron James to the Philadelphia, it appears the oddsmakers now believe the 76ers are the next-best team in the conference after the reigning champs.

Still, outside the Knicks, the Boston Celtics appear to be the next biggest threat to Philadelphia, while the Raptors and Cavaliers still seem one or two moves away from being considered legitimate contenders.

Loaded with two former NBA MVPs in James and Joel Embiid, led by a top-five NBA guard in Maxey, and following a big-time move for Jaylen Brown this summer, it’s going to be very hard to question who can really take Philadelphia down this upcoming season.

As always, health will be the biggest factor, especially for James and Embiid down the stretch, but if the Sixers can wheel their way into the playoffs with both men healthy enough to score at will, which fans have seen prior, the rest of the Eastern Conference better buckle up.
