Update: How much Aston Villa are actually paying Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea are on the verge of selling Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa after the two Premier League clubs reached a full agreement worth around €75 million including add-ons.

The Senegal international has been expected to leave Stamford Bridge throughout the final weeks of the transfer window, with Chelsea insisting on a permanent sale rather than another loan.

Villa have consistently been the most serious contenders and are now close to completing the deal, barring a dramatic late intervention from Atletico Madrid or another club.

Chelsea and Aston Villa reach Jackson agreement

According to Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea and Aston Villa have agreed the complete financial package for Jackson, with the transfer worth approximately €75m including bonuses.

Jackson is expected to finalise the remaining personal details with Villa on Thursday, with a contract running until 2031 already planned.

Villa have been pushing hardest for the 25-year-old for some time, with Unai Emery familiar with Jackson after working with him at Villarreal.

The striker’s arrival is directly connected to Ollie Watkins’ impending departure.

talkSPORT reports that Al Hilal have agreed a deal worth around £51m for the England international, clearing the way for Villa to complete Jackson’s signing.

Jackson move makes sense for all the parties involved

For Chelsea, this looks like sensible business.

Jackson has shown flashes of quality at Stamford Bridge, particularly with his movement and ability to attack space, but he has never fully convinced as the club’s long-term number nine.

Villa, meanwhile, are taking a calculated gamble.

Jackson is younger than Watkins and already understands Emery’s methods, which should make the transition easier. His pace and aggressive movement could also suit Villa’s attacking style extremely well.

The biggest question remains finishing consistency. Jackson creates plenty of chances but has sometimes lacked composure in decisive moments.

Still, this move offers him something Chelsea no longer could: a clear role.
