Unified Champion Wants Claressa Shields Despite A Massive Size Disadvantage

Chantelle Cameron just pulled off the biggest win in women’s boxing in 2026, and now she wants the G.W.O.A.T. I spoke with Cameron about her win over Mikaela Mayer and her talks to fight Claressa Shields, the pound-for-pound No. 1 female boxer in the world. According to Cameron, Shields is interested in the fight, but there’s a catch for the 35-year-old from Northampton. The fight would have to take place at 160 pounds and that’s going to put Cameron at a massive size disadvantage. Guess what? She wants it anyway. Let’s talk boxing.

Cameron gave the number herself.

“I think Claressa… she’ll come in 160. It’s nice for me to perform. I’ll be around 150.”

Shields has said she will not fight below 160 pounds. She last made middleweight in 2023 and has since campaigned as high as 174, winning the undisputed heavyweight title.

Cameron is not underselling the occasion.

“It will definitely be the biggest fight in female boxing… it’s a super fight.”

I asked Cameron if she had any worries about being able to sting Shields or being able to take the G.W.O.A.T’s punch. Cameron is very respectful of her potential opponent, but believes she has what it takes to pull off the improbable.

“I know that I’m hard… I believe in my toughness.”

She expects the fight to happen in the United States and said she is willing to travel for it.

This is a fight both women need, but for different reasons. Shields needs to quiet the naysayers who have questioned her strength of competition once she moved up to light heavy and heavyweight. She is also looking to maximize her earning potential, and that means fighting more well-known fighters.

Cameron is taking her shot. At 35, she is nearing the point in her career where she probably has far fewer fights ahead of her than in the rearview mirror. She already owns a win over Katie Taylor and now Mayer. What would it do for her career if she bested Shields?

Cameron closed on why she is chasing it at all.

“It’s just daring to be great… don’t ever let anyone tell you you can’t reach for the stars.”
