“Arsenal remain interested in Monaco right‑back Vanderson. The club have continued to assess the Brazilian defender in recent weeks, keeping him under close watch as one of their long‑standing targets,” he posted.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal continue to keep the 25-year-old as a priority, or if he’s just one of a number of names under consideration for that position.

Do Arsenal need a new right-back?

Arsenal could probably do with thinking about new long-term options for the right-back role, even if they already have two quality options there in the form of Jurrien Timber and Ben White.

Both Timber and White have had some major injuries in recent times, and that will likely be a concern for Mikel Arteta as he needs a squad that can go the distance in four competitions.

Arsenal ended up keeping White this summer even when there were some doubts over his future, and the 28-year-old is perhaps someone who doesn’t have that long left playing at what could be considered his peak years.

WhoScored lists Vanderson’s strengths as aerial duels and ball interception, which makes him sound like just the kind of player Arteta values.
