UNC basketball watches recruits in Las Vegas

The Summer AAU circuit is officially here as players, coaches, and more descend to Las Vegas for the EYBL event this week.

For Michael Malone and the North Carolina Tar Heels, this is their first AAU cycle to recruit. The 2027 class will be the first recruiting class for this staff, as they hope to land some big prospects. While in Vegas, the staff is quickly doing their homework on some prospects.

Among the coaches in attendance to watch five-star point guard Beckham Black was Malone:

Joining Malone was Duke’s Jon Scheyer, Xavier’s Richard Pitino, Kentucky’s Mark Pope, Arkansas’ John Calipari, and Oregon’s Dana Altman.

Beck is the top-ranked player in the 2027 class overall and has 24 offers. Being the top player, he’s drawing a lot of interest from programs. On Thursday, Black put together a good performance, including scoring 18 points in one game.

For North Carolina, they will have some tough competition. And while there is no presumed favorite, the Razorbacks could be the team to beat.
