UNC Basketball commit impressing ahead of college career

So far, Malone has been on the job just a few months, and already he’s made an impact in terms of recruiting and the transfer portal. One player he was able to land as a recruit was four-star wing Kevin Thomas. The former LSU commit reopened his recruitment and eventually committed to UNC.

He joins the Tar Heels 2026 class that includes Maximo Adams and Malloy Smith. While Thomas hasn’t played for UNC yet, he’s already impressing, per some reports.

Here is what Noah Weiskof of TarHeel247 said on “A UNC Basketball Podcast” about Thomas:

“Kevin Thomas is someone that I’m extremely excited to see,” Weiskof said. “I’ve heard a ton of rumblings about Thomas. He is highly-touted, someone that NBA scouts are intrigued by because of his size and ability to shoot the 3.”

That’s good to hear.

With Michael Malone here, the UNC focus will be on developing NBA talent again. He has a background in the NBA and was respected during his time coaching the Denver Nuggets.

Thomas has intriguing traits and it wouldn’t shock us at all if he played well early in his career with the Tar Heels.
