Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves noted that the administration is responding to the Iran war impact by keeping prices down for households and businesses.

Reeves said the freeze on fuel duty, the mileage rate uprate — the first time in 15 years — and temporarily slashed VAT are part of measures to help reduce costs.

The relief, the Chancellor explained, was in recognition of how farmers and hauliers have been “exposed to high fuel prices, and their importance to UK supply chains.”
