Earlier this year, after a gap of five years, Conor McGregor made his much-awaited MMA return. At UFC 329, McGregor returned against former rival Max Holloway. However, his return fell short when he suffered an ACL injury and was ruled out of the fight.

Now having undergone surgery and recovering, McGregor hopes to come back and fight his last UFC bout in 2027. Recently, McGregor’s long-time head coach, John Kavanagh, opened up and addressed the positive chances of “The Notorious One” coming back.

Kavanagh was devastated by how McGregor’s comeback fight ended within just 69 seconds. But Kavanagh is now hopeful that McGregor will recover from the major injury and compete in this last bout.

Recently appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, McGregor’s head coach claimed that McGregor has done too many impossible things, and he is not going to doubt him. “He says he does [fight again],” he said while addressing his return status. “I think I’m just too long around him, now 22 years around each other, and I’ve just seen him do too many things that seem to be impossible and he does them, repeatedly. So, if he says he does, I’m not going to doubt him.

“We’ll see. I guess it’ll be next year until he can start returning to MMA type training. He’s going through his rehab now and he’s back. He looks pretty good to me. He looks to be moving around quite well,” he said (via BloodyElbow). However, it should be noted that Kavanagh was not sure if McGregor’s comeback would be a full fighting return or not.
