In the hours before UFC Freedom 250, a tweet allegedly posted and deleted by UFC color commentator Daniel Cormier started circulating on social media. Both Cormier and the tweet’s subject, Eric Trump, quickly called them a forgery.

The alleged tweet, posted at 6:05 p.m. ET by the account @NeedMyNutsLickt, showed Cormier writing “I’m probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing this to light, however I refuse to stay silent. The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about I will not tolerate this type of insider behavior. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event.”

Attached were screengrabs in which Trump, the son of President Donald Trump, first asked Cormier for inside information about the UFC Freedom 250 fighters via direct messages on X. He then outright asked “Are any of the fights tomorrow rigged?” and said that he was eyeing a bet on the opener between Diego Lopes and Steve Garcia.

It wasn’t long before Cormier appeared to address the matter by doubting the intelligence of anyone who believed the screengrabs were real.

Eric Trump soon followed, declaring that they were “fake, AI generated screenshots” and that has never spoken to Cormier. However he did indicate there really was a post and that Cormier had deleted it.

Trump also retweeted Trump Organization communications director Kimberly Benza echoing his concerns about the spread of misinformation.

The small saga was the latest subplot to emerge in Washington D.C. during the UFC’s White House takeover, which also saw a delay caused by inclement weather and the detainment of middleweight champion Sean Strickland for crashing a fan event.
