UBEC Seeks Partnership with Book Publishers to Strengthen Basic Education

The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha M. Garba, has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to building strategic partnerships aimed at improving access to quality basic education across Nigeria.

Garba stated this while receiving representatives of the WPG Consortium (West African Book Publishers Ltd.) during a meeting to explore areas of collaboration in strengthening basic education delivery in the country.

According to her, meaningful partnerships are critical to transforming education and expanding learning opportunities for every Nigerian child.

She said discussions at the meeting centred on improving access to quality instructional materials, supporting effective curriculum implementation, leveraging digital learning solutions and exploring innovative approaches to make education accessible to children regardless of their location or circumstances.

The UBEC boss also noted that both parties exchanged ideas on the use of technology to enhance learning experiences, equip learners with relevant digital skills and address the challenge of out-of-school children through flexible and inclusive education solutions.

Garba reiterated UBEC’s commitment to fostering collaborations that promote innovation, strengthen learning outcomes and advance the commission’s goal of providing inclusive, equitable and quality basic education for every Nigerian child.

She expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between UBEC and key stakeholders in the education sector would help build a stronger and more resilient basic education system in Nigeria.
