Two arrested in Adamawa over theft from Bamanga Tukur’s farm

Two men have been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly stealing irrigation pipes from a farm owned by the late elder statesman, Bamanga Tukur.

The Adamawa State Police Command disclosed this on Friday, less than a week after Bamanga Tukur died.

The Police Command said its operatives arrested the two men over the alleged theft of eight underground irrigation water pipes valued at N3 million from the former Gongola State governor’s farm located in Yola South Local Government Area.

“The suspects, 45-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed of Wauro Jabbe and 28-year-old Jemilu Yahaya (a scavenger from Jambutu Bypass), were arrested by operatives attached to the Kofare Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola following credible intelligence,” the Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, explained.

Nguroje said preliminary investigation indicated that Mohammed allegedly stole the irrigation pipes and sold them to Yahaya.

One Carry-go motorcycle and the stolen irrigation pipes have since been recovered.

According to Nguroje, the suspects are currently in Police custody as investigation continues, after which they would be charged to court.
