Turkey: Osimhen’s absence rivals’ only hope of beating Galatasaray to title – Sabuncuoğlu
Turkish football pundit, Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, has claimed that any team hoping to beat Galatasaray to the Turkish Super Lig title will need Victor Osimhen to be injured and sidelined for around two months.
Sabuncuoğlu argued that only a prolonged stretch without Osimhen can give rivals a realistic chance of winning the league.
“If a team wants to become champion in this league besides Galatasaray, they have to hope Osimhen gets injured and doesn’t play for 2 months at Galatasaray, so we see a fairly long stretch of Galatasaray without Osimhen,” Sabuncuoğlu said as quoted by Krampon Sports.
Galatasaray currently sits at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table with 25 points from 10 matches.
They won the domestic league back-to-back in the last two seasons following Osimhen’s arrival.
