Turkey: Awaziem’s brace inspires Konyaspor to victory over Gençlerbirliği

Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem scored twice to guide Konyaspor to a 2-0 victory over Gençlerbirliği in their Turkish Super Lig clash on Sunday.

Awaziem broke the deadlock two minutes before half-time, giving the hosts a crucial advantage heading into the break.

Gençlerbirliği stepped up their attacking efforts after the restart in search of an equaliser, but Konyaspor remained resolute defensively.

The Nigeria international then doubled his side’s lead 11 minutes into the second half, finishing from close range after the visitors failed to clear a corner kick.

Awaziem’s impressive brace secured all three points for Konyaspor and ended their three-game winless run in the league.
