Trump’s Ally Turned Critic Sean Strickland Removed From White House UFC Event
Sean Strickland didn’t let a lack of an invitation to Donald Trump‘s UFC Freedom 250 stop him from attending.
The mixed martial artist, now a controversial Trump critic, caused a stir at the June 14 event held on the White House’s Great Lawn. Although he couldn’t get in, Strickland appeared on the Ellipse, the park overlooking the White House.
Sean Strickland detailed his appearance on the Ellipse on social media, where fans had gathered to watch the fights on massive screens. However, his little break-in led Secret Service agents to pull him out of the fan fest.

According to new reports, Strickland’s forced exit from the Ellipse fan viewing party on Sunday wasn’t because Trump didn’t want him there. Secret Service agents near the White House reportedly escorted him from the venue because they feared for his safety.
Strickland had gone incognito to the fan event without security, causing a stir amongst onlookers. The U.S. Park Police claimed that federal officers responded to Strickland’s appearance on the Ellipse only after receiving a report of a disturbance caused by his sudden arrival.
The federal officers arrived around 7 PM and decided it was best to escort Strickland off the premises as the crowd became disorderly. TMZ added that a rep for the U.S. Park Police claimed Strickland was neither cited nor arrested. However, the MMA star was warned not to return to the Ellipse for his own safety.
Strickland detailed his adventures on social media, dropping a video of his appearance at the fan event held on the Ellipse. He shared the post on Instagram, capturing himself sneaking into the event while shushing fans around him, hoping they wouldn’t give him away.
Everyone appeared to be a good sport as they avoided drawing attention to Strickland, who made his way to the massive WWE ring set up on the Ellipse. Once he arrived at the ring, fans could no longer control their excitement, and some even threw drinks at Strickland, playfully welcoming him.
The pro athlete embraced the love, entering the ring amidst cheers and screams. He even interacted with a few fans, chugged a drink, and beamed with joy as the crowd started chanting. However, his good times ended when federal agents appeared to escort him off the premises.
Strickland’s updates continued on his Instagram Stories, with The Daily Beast reporting that he believed he had gotten into trouble with the law. In one video, Strickland filmed himself inside the back of what appeared to be a high-security vehicle, saying:
“I’m pretty sure I didn’t break a law, like I’m pretty sure. But we might be going to jail, but I’m pretty sure we didn’t break no laws.”
In a separate video, the UFC Middleweight Champion noted that he “may have been charged with disorderly conduct.” Despite suspecting he was in trouble with the law, Strickland thanked fans for making the moment worthwhile. “After being banned, you guys riding and supporting me—it means a lot to me,” he said.
As for how Strickland got into the fan viewing event at the Ellipse, he had one of his many supporters to thank. He expressed gratitude to the anonymous individual on X, noting that the person helped him sneak in. “You’re a f-cking legend and a true American….You did what the UFC wouldn’t,” he wrote.
Strickland’s words reiterated his belief that the UFC had initially banned him from the UFC Freedom 250 because of his political stance. The athlete has frequently bashed the president because of his relationship with Israel and the ongoing war in Iran.
However, UFC CEO Dana White refuted Strickland’s claims during a press conference, per MMA Fighting. White declared that no one had been banned from the event, arguing that Strickland had “made it very clear he didn’t want to be a part of this event.”
Strickland used to be one of Trump’s supporters from the sports sector until he became concerned about foreign influence, particularly Israel, shaping American politics. He has frequently slammed the president for his relationship with Israel and the ongoing war in Iran.
Days before the UFC Freedom 250 event, Strickland mocked Trump on X, with a side-by-side comparison post. He shared Trump’s viral Western Wall picture and recreated it himself, with a plate on his head to match the president’s kippah, the small, brimless cap worn by Jews.
“Who did it better?” Strickland sarcastically captioned the June 14 post. He also made his intentions clear in a separate post on June 10 when a fan asked why he no longer supported Trump. “I stopped supporting Trump after Israel made him bomb Iran the first time,” he declared.
