The development was contained in a post shared on Tuesday night on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the explosive device was discovered at about 10:10 a.m. on Monday by troops of the 81 Division Task Force Battalion during a routine picketing patrol along the Dikwa-Gajibo axis.

“The troops immediately secured the area after spotting the suspected bomb and alerted the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

“The EOD team responded promptly and carried out a controlled detonation of the device at the scene without any casualties or damage,” Makama wrote.

The report said the successful operation was part of ongoing military efforts to counter the use of improvised explosive devices by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, who have continued to target security personnel and civilian traffic in the North-East.

It added that the operation demonstrated the vigilance of troops in protecting key supply routes and preventing insurgents from disrupting military operations and the movement of civilians.
