Troops discover, detonate IED along Baga–Cross Road in Borno
Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigerian Navy Lake Chad, NBLC, and Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, have discovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device, IED, along the Baga–Cross road in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst in a post on X on Sunday, said security sources disclosed that the incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. on October 29, 2026, when troops of 403 Amphibious Brigade, alongside personnel of the NBLC and CJTF, discovered the explosive device during a main supply route scanning operation.
He explained that the sources said an Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, team was subsequently deployed to the location and successfully detonated the IED in situ.
He said, “The operation prevented the explosive device from posing a further threat to troops and other road users along the route.”
Makama explained that security personnel are continuing route-clearance and surveillance operations to detect and neutralise potential explosive threats within the area.
