Trent McDuffie and Rams launch Inglewood Flag Football League

Trent McDuffie has always been big on giving back to the community, building a strong connection in Kansas City and now Los Angeles. The L.A. native has wasted no time with his community outreach efforts in his first year with the Rams, partnering with the team for the launch of a new flag football league.

On Wednesday, McDuffie hosted a backpack drive where he donated 240 backpacks and also held a youth football camp, spending some valuable time with youngsters looking to get into football. Additionally, he and the Rams launched the Inglewood Flag Football League.

“The first sport I played when I was five years old was flag football. When I was a kid, I was out here doing these same camps,” McDuffie said in a statement, via NFL.com. “A lot of these kids will grow up together, play football together, be in high school together. You create a lot of bonds and a lot of memories when you’re out here. Being able to come back to Inglewood and be an inspiration to some of these kids, have them talk to me and ask me questions, is all I want to do. This is something that I developed the love to do, to be out in the community. I think sports are a way everybody can come together and do something bigger than themselves.”

McDuffie was born in Westminster, Calif., and went to St. John Bosco in L.A. He left Southern California to attend the University of Washington before being drafted by the Chiefs, but he’s back in his home city as a new member of the Rams.

He talked about why it’s so important to be an inspiration to kids in the community.

The Rams didn’t just get a great player in their trade with the Chiefs. McDuffie is an exemplary person off the field who checks all the boxes for what it means to be a Ram.
