The play came in the third quarter, with Buffalo holding a lead. The quarterback faced pressure from the Raiders’ defense, but the sequence ended with a touchdown pass that traveled over two defenders.

Bills’ touchdown pass leaves Travis Kelce surprised

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was impressed by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s touchdown pass against the Las Vegas Raiders. Allen had reached his 100th career win against the Los Angeles Rams earlier in the season. Speaking on the New Heights podcast, Kelce discussed Allen’s touchdown pass to Keon Coleman.

“You’ve got to have some cojones to throw that like that. We’ve seen the five-yard-like pitch like that. I’ve never seen the 15 yards downfield over two guys,” Kelce said.

The play happened in the third quarter, with Buffalo leading 16-13. Facing third-and-8 at the Raiders’ 12-yard line, Allen faced pressure from the Raiders’ pass rush. With defenders closing in, he tried to escape and extend the play.

Allen moved through the defenders and released the ball just before going down, sending it over their heads toward the end zone. The pass traveled approximately 12 to 15 yards to Coleman, who caught it for a touchdown. The touchdown increased Buffalo’s advantage after the teams entered halftime tied at 13-13.

Kelce compared the play to a short five-yard pitch and said he had not previously seen a quarterback throw the ball 15 yards downfield over two defenders in that manner.

Allen later explained that he was trying to make a play after feeling pressure from the Raiders’ defense. As he adjusted his position in the pocket, he recognized pressure coming from the left and saw Coleman open before releasing the pass.

Allen was hit and went to the ground after throwing the ball. He said he initially did not know whether the pass had resulted in a touchdown or an interception and tried to determine the outcome by listening to the crowd’s reaction.

Coleman finished the game with 59 receiving yards and one touchdown, extending his touchdown streak to three consecutive games. Allen completed 23 of 33 passes for 255 yards and two passing touchdowns.

The score was Allen’s 258th career passing touchdown, tying former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly for the most passing touchdowns in franchise history. Buffalo went on to defeat Las Vegas 33-30, improving its record to 5-1.

Kelce, meanwhile, had recorded 20 receptions for 299 receiving yards and two touchdowns in five games for the Chiefs during the 2026 regular season.

The two players had previously discussed an unconventional play. In 2023, Allen praised a lateral by Kelce and described it as a bold decision. Their earlier exchange resurfaced after Kelce discussed Allen’s touchdown pass against the Raiders.

Travis Kelce admired Josh Allen’s touchdown throw over two defenders during Buffalo’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The Bills will return from their bye week to host the Baltimore Ravens at Highmark Stadium on November 1.
